The Most Advanced Eyebrow Techniques

Eyebrow microblading one of the most traditional methods of permanent makeup, but we have revolutionized the practice and created a new technique that forms natural, long-lasting and beautiful eyebrows. Our artists are trained in our proprietary a dynamic range of tools to create eyebrows that will turn heads.

For those looking for a longer and more permanent eyebrow look to last longer than a few years, we also offer microstroking.

Microblading Eyebrows from Certified Tin Hoang

Microblading

This is our most popular permanent makeup service. Microblading is a technique where use a manual blade (comprised of micro-sized needles) to create hair-like strokes in your eyebrow area.

Microblading is a permanent cosmetic service that is designed to fade over time (longevity largely depends on pathlogy of skin, lifestyle and maintenance). Brows typically last from 1.5 - 2 years.

This service has had many other names associated with it such as high definition brows, 3d microblading brows, brow embroidery, feather touch and some other terms.

Microstroking

This technique is recommended for customers that may have received microblading in the past and want to have longer lasting eyebrows.

The technique differs from microblading in that we use a rotary tattoo machine instead of micro-needle blades. This technique mimics the natural brows and is used to create hair-like strokes while giving the eyebrow more of a "powdered" look. The results of microstroking may last 3+ years and is unique with each person.

Frequently Asked Questions

Microblading, also known as Eyebrow Embroidery is a procedure categorized under permanent makeup, but unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, your artist will be using a hand tool instead of a machine. Microblading typically lasts anywhere from 1-2 years, depending on skin type and skincare routine. The procedure is done by using a hand tool with ultra fine needles and each 'hair' is gently etched into the skin, giving an incredibly natural and realistic look. Microblading can dramatically correct or fully reconstruct lost eyebrow and is excellent for those wanting to enhance their brows or who have little to no eyebrows, thinning brows from age or over tweezed brows. Pigments used are chosen to match the natural or desired brow color and skin tone will also be taken into consideration.

For the first Microblading session, the entire procedure should take about 2.5-3 hours. During this session, the brow technician will shape and style the client’s brows for client approval. We then follow with pigment color selection. Once the client is satisfied with the choices, we begin the procedure.

The client is to come in for a follow up visit in order to have any minor necessary touch ups. The second Microblading session takes place after 4-6 weeks after the initial session. This session will take approximately 1.5-2 hours to complete.

The eyebrow area will be slightly red after the procedure and color will appear very dark. This is normal for the procedure and part of the healing process. The color will fade by up to 40% as it heals. In the following days, the eyebrows will continue to be dark and you will notice slight scabbing. Do not pick at the scabs as this may damage the skin and the outcome of the microbladed area. The eyebrows will lighten up in color as it heals. No down time is required after microblading procedure. It takes approximately 7-14 days for the brows to heal over, and about 1 month for the color to fully set in. You'll notice the color is very light right after the two weeks after healing; the skin will have an opaque milky looking quality to it. This is known as the milk skin and is common in tattooing. This is due to the the tissue still healing from the inside out even though the surface of the skin is healed. True color will reveal itself once healed.

Yes! A touch up session after 4-6 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more strokes can be added. Individuals with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for the whole year!

Touch up sessions should not be done earlier than 4 weeks after initial microblading session as pigment color has not fully settled into the skin. Most importantly, this is to prevent scar damage as the tissue requires time to completely heal.

The pain level for the procedure is considered mild to none. Prior to the procedure your brow technician will apply a topical anesthetic to numb the area, and also reapplied during the procedure. Everyone responds differently to anesthetic; depending on the client, the feeling of the procedure has been described as light cat scratches to not feeling anything. Topical anesthetics used may contain lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine and epinephrine.

After the procedure, redness and slight swelling in the area is normal. Clients describe the area feeling similar to a light sunburn. Clients can take Tylenol but not aspirin or ibuprofen.

Since microblading pigments are not implanted into the skin as deep as traditional tattoos, the area will naturally fade overtime. Microblading typically lasts 1-2 years, depending on skin type (normal, oily, dry), age (youthful/mature). Skincare routine will also affect the lasting effect of the pigment: patients who tan, uses products with AHA or Glycolic Acid with fade faster as your skin will resurface faster. Each individual's color retention within the skin will vary. To maintain the brows looking fresh, a touch up is suggested every 12-18 months. Clients can let the microbladed area fade over time, but please note a slight shadow may remain.

Please refer to our pre-visit and after-care sections for detailed instructions.

Microblading is not suitable for the following candidates:

  • Using Accutane
  • Have heart conditions or using heart medications
  • Have diabetes (will require a physician's note)
  • Have skin disease or irritations
  • Have had Botox in the last 2 weeks
  • Have gotten a deep tan or chemical peels in the last 2 weeks
  • Allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine
  • Anyone who has any serious medical conditions may require a physician's note.
  • Pregnant or nursing clients who want to microblade can be done at your own discretion. We suggest discussing with your doctor first. Microblading is still considered a tattoo, and just like with wine or sushi consumption, it is a personal choice to do so during this period.

We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who we deem not suitable for this procedure or for any other reason. Our brow technicians make the decision to microblade an individual based on their own discretion.

We take all proper precautions for a safe session by using sterilized equipment, new needles and in a sanitized environment. Should clients follow our pre and post care instructions, there should be minimal risks or complications. Although allergic reactions to the pigments are rare, it could be possible for certain individuals. We suggest a pigment patch test for individuals who have high skin sensitivities or are sensitive to:

  • Topical makeup products
  • Gold, silver and nickel
  • Hair dyes
Patch tests should be performed 5-7 days prior.

As with all cosmetic procedures, individuals should not make their choices lightly. We always recommend clients do their research, understand the procedure and compare different artists' work and portfolio when making their decisions. Our brow technicians will do their utmost to shape and style the eyebrows to the clients satisfaction prior to the procedure. Every effort will be made to achieve an even appearance, but please realize our faces are never perfectly symmetrical. Uneven appearance can be fixed during the touch up session. Pigment discoloration and color correction can also be fixed during the the touch up session. Microbladed brows will eventually fade away if no additional touch ups are done.

Clients are able to cancel or reschedule appointments at anytime with a minimum of 24 hours notice prior to the appointment time, otherwise a fee will be charged. To book a reservation, you must provide a valid credit card that is in your name. No charges will be made at time of booking.

Please refer to our eyebrow policies section for further details.

Pre-Visit

Before you come in for your initial session or any of your touch ups, you'll want to ensure that you've prepared yourself for the procedure.

  • If you are under a physicians care you must obtain a release from him/her prior to your procedure.
  • Fillers or Botox should be done 6 weeks prior to your procedure and 6 weeks after your procedure.
  • Do not work out the day of the procedure as the body heat expands the pores.
  • No excessive sun exposure, sweating, or tanning prior to the procedure.
  • Do not have a tan/sunburn on your face prior to your procedure.
  • If you get your eyebrows waxed or tinted, please have this done at least 72 hours prior to your procedure.
  • Do NOT take blood thinners (Aspirin, Coumadin, Tylenol, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen) 72 hours prior to your procedure.
  • You must have written permission from your physician if you are taking Coumadin or Heparin.
  • You MUST be off Retin-A, Retinol, or Retinoids for 7 days prior to your procedure and avoid using on or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely.
  • You have to be off Accutane for 1 year.
  • Avoid alcohol or caffeine prior to your procedure, this will minimize any oozing or swelling after the procedure.
  • Getting a procedure while on your menstrual cycle can make you hypersensitive at the procedure.
  • If there are any blemishes, pimples, active cold sores, irritation of the skin of any kind, moles or other skin imperfections in or around the area of the procedure, the procedure will be rescheduled until the blemish or area of concern is gone.
  • Come without any face makeup except for your brows (if you choose so). It will be very helpful if our technician can see your every day look you prefer. Reference pictures of shapes and colors of brows are always welcomed. We will then work together to create the perfect brows!

After-Care

As stylists, we will do the best that we can to ensure the design and longevity of your new brows. However, how well you take care of your brows and the affected area will also determine how well you heal.

Expect treated areas to be tender for the next few days. The procedure area may be red, swollen or have a discharge of lymph (clear fluid) and blood for at least 12 hours post procedure. Gently dab off excess lymph from the procedure area with a clean tissue and clean cold water. Remember that you should wipe off the lymph to avoid getting a thick crust. You may alternate between ice and hot packs to relieve swelling.

Immediately following the procedure:
  • Within 2 hours after the procedure, clean brows using a q-tip and lightly moisten with distilled or cooled downed boiling water. Gently wipe away the old healing balm and any lymphatic liquid (clear yellowish liquid) that may have built up. Lightly pat dry with tissue and using a new q-tip, re-apply healing balm to the brows.
  • Make sure to apply a light layer of healing balm morning and night to brows for at least 5-7 days. Try not to over-apply healing balm.
  • Do not immerse brow area in water for 14 days. When showering, make sure to avoid face area. When cleaning or washing face, make sure to avoid brows and clean around it. Using a wet face towel may help so that you are not risking water contact.
  • Remember to not put makeup on the brow area for a minimum of 10 days. The microbladed area is an open wound, using makeup may cause infections
  • Avoid alcohol and aspirin/ibuprofen and any vitamins that may thin your blood for 24 hours.
Best practices for healing properly:
  • The procedure area will be much darker for 5-7 days post procedure. The true color will not be visible for 4-6 weeks post procedure and for each color refresher.
  • Tissue heals at different levels, some people heal within 5-7 days; some may take 10 or more to heal.
  • The eyebrows will appear bolder immediately after the procedure. This is common in all Permanent Makeup applications. Hair strokes will soften up as the tissue heals.
  • It is very common to have areas fade more so than others. This is a part of the healing process and will be treated at the recommended touch up appointment. Eyebrows may take 1-3 treatments to achieve the desired result.
  • Scar tissue in the brow area of eyebrows done multiple times WILL require additional procedures and fees will apply.
  • Do not touch the healing pigmented area with your fingers. Touching the treated area with your fingers, unclean cotton swabs, old products or other, may result in infection. If you need to touch the area - use a clean cotton swab!
  • DO NOT RUB, SCRATCH OR PICK THE TREATED AREA; pigment may be removed along with crusting tissue. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring.
  • Use A&D ointment ONLY if the treated area feels very tight. Do not use too much of A&D ointment; overuse of your healing product will not let the area heal properly; apply a very thin layer to prevent the treated area from drying.
  • Sleep on a CLEAN satin pillowcase while the procedure area is healing.
  • No sauna, Jacuzzi, steam, exercise, hot yoga, swimming in chlorine pools or in the ocean for 7-10 days (until area is completely healed) after the procedure and after all color refreshers.
  • Do not expose your face to the sun until the procedure area has healed. The sun will fade the pigment.
  • Do not wear makeup on the treated area until it has healed. You might cause an infection or otherwise damage the permanent makeup.
  • No tinting of brows until the procedure area has completely healed.
  • If you are a blood donor, you may NOT give blood for 1 year following your permanent makeup application (according to Red Cross).
  • Color refresher visits should be scheduled between 4-8 weeks post procedure. All permanent makeup procedures are at least two-step process. Results cannot be determined until the color refresher is completed.
  • If you resume the Retin-A, Retinol, or Retinods after the 30 days, the continued use will fade your permanent makeup prematurely.
  • DO NOT USE any lightening and peeling products that contain AHA’s, Vitamin A, Retinol A, Glycolic/Lactic Acids on the treated area; it will fade your tattoo/permanent makeup prematurely. Check your product labeling. It will fade your pigment color. Read the ingredients on the back of every bottle of product that you use.
  • If you are out in the sun a lot, have oily skin, using Retinol products, chemical peels, then you will need color refreshers every 6 months to 1 year.
  • Use a sun block after the procedure area has healed to prevent future fading of pigment color; apply a waterproof sunblock 3-4 times daily to prevent fading.
  • If you have any questions or concerns please notify your technician immediately. You need to follow ALL After Care Instructions for maximum results of the procedure. Failure to follow the above advice will result in less than desired results.
